Service Description

Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Courses This comprehensive two-day course is designed for individuals who require first aid and CPR training for work purposes or those who want to be better prepared to respond to emergencies at home. The course meets the safety requirements of provincial and territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest guidelines in first aid and CPR. Instructor Certified Red Cross First Aid Instructor Completion Requirements - Full attendance and active participation throughout the course - Achieve a minimum of 75% on the written, closed-book knowledge evaluation - Adherence to the Red Cross Fundamental Principles Certification - Receive a 3-year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level A or C, and AED upon successful completion Recertification Standard First Aid: 6.5–7.5 hours of training, including CPR Level A or C and AED, in accordance with local legislation Blended Standard First Aid: 4 hours of online learning followed by 3-4 hours of in-class instruction Note: Online learning time may vary depending on the participant. Course Content - Introduction to The Red Cross - Preparing to respond to emergencies - Understanding and using the EMS system - The Check, Call, Care approach - Managing airway emergencies - Addressing breathing and circulation emergencies - First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest - Wound care techniques - Managing head, neck, and spine injuries - Treatment of bone, muscle, and joint injuries - Responding to sudden medical emergencies - Recognizing and treating environmental illnesses - Poison management, including opioid poisoning - Additional content as required by specific legislation Participant Materials - First Aid & CPR Manual (available in print and/or eBook) - Comprehensive Guide to First Aid & CPR (eBook) - Standard First Aid Online course (for Blended learning) - Digital Standard First Aid certificate issued upon successful course completion
